Below are the common tips on how to know if the “Polo” type baby shirt you buy is really of good quality:
1). Yarn
Yarn is the main determinant of the fabric quality. The longer the fiber used, the better the fabric quality. Combing will get rid of shot fibers, and yield in yarn to be knitted with uniform and stronger union.
2). Weight of Fabric
The weight of fabric show how much material used in the production of clothing and how much the material cost of the “Polo” type baby shirt is. The cost of baby shirt with fabric weight of 220 gram/m2 is of course higher than the one with the fabric weight of 180 gram/m2 (from the same size of shirt)
3). Dyeing of Fabric
The dyeing method really determines the color resistance against sunlight and continuous washing. For clothes made from 100% cotton, reactive dyeing will result in better performance compared with direct dyeing. Fabric made from polyester and cotton combination requires double dyeing process to embed the color in both material.
4). Collar
Good quality shirt has three yarns / layer in both collar and arm sleeves, which is better from the one use two yarns / layer. Sufficient collar thickness results in more balanced and stable overall shirt appearance.
5). Fabric Layer in Neck, Shoulder and Arm Area
Fabric layers in neck, shoulder and arm area act as covering, does not only show tidiness, but more important is to protect and stabilize the joint between front and rear body area.
6). Lower Part
Good quality shirt has double stitches on the lower shirt end. Neck, shoulder and arm area all have double stitches, to avoid peeled fabric and loose stitches from repeated usage.
